Dena Zavier*, BA, CPHR , Principal Consultant for Summit Vision Communication has worked with organizations and with the humans that populate for over 30 years. Denise has gained profound insights into what engages employees to be productive leaders and valued contributors to your company’s mission. She also understands the nuts and bolts of administration, whether it is supporting a governing board, implementing a new software or managing projects.

She is available to provide individual and group education, consulting on all areas of human resources, and intensive one-on-one leadership and supervisory coaching.

Denise likes to think of herself as a renaissance woman and as such has read and studied a wide variety of subjects and is constantly researching and learning about the innovative as well as the tried and true solutions in the areas of management and leadership. She has held the Certified Professional in Human Resources designation since 2009 and is currently pursuing an MSc. Mental Health Psychology with the University of Liverpool.

She has lived, raised children and worked in the Yukon since 1976, first in Dawson City and since 1990 in Tagish, Whitehorse and even Burwash Landing. She has over 20 years of human resource and management experience including facilitation, coaching, mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation. Over the years she has worked for Parks Canada, Yukon Government Public Service Commission, Department of Health & Social Services and Department of Economic Development, Yukon Hospital Corporation, Yukon Employees’ Union and Kluane First Nation. She has consulted and provided professional administrative and human resource services for private firms and First Nation Governments.

Outside of work she is constantly pursuing new experience and knowledge – from a month long motorcycle adventure in Baja and climbing on Denali, to running a small tourism business and working on a comprehensive personal/business development program. She has written for Whats Up Yukon, Yukon North of Ordinary and HRvoice.org, (*as both as Dena Zavier, and previous name as Denise L. Norman) and is currently writing a book about raw foods and working on an online supervisory program. Her personal motto is “leap and the net will appear”. She believes that if you are uncomfortable, you must be growing so don’t be surprised if she makes YOU uncomfortable from time to time.
